SUMMARY:Ceres 2020: Restitching our Social Fabric: How Community Leadership Can Tackle Climate Change
DESCRIPTION:During his time in the White House\, David Simas came in contact with thousands of Americans about the issues affecting their day-to-day lives–including climate change. One message was clear – our social fabric was fraying\, and tackling society’s most pressing issues required that we restitch it. As the CEO of the Obama Foundation\, Simas is leading an effort to inspire\, empower\, and connect changemakers across the globe to bring communities – inclusive of individuals\, investors\, and businesses – together around high-impact issue areas. \nSimas will share the Obama Foundation’s vision for a more sustainable future before joining Ceres CEO Mindy Lubber for a moderated discussion. \nIn this session\, participants will: \n\nExplore root causes of social mistrust and civic disengagement;\nExamine the role of compassionate leadership in restoring trust and engagement;\nIdentify how investors and the business sector can accelerate social cohesion and climate action.\n\nThis session is part of Ceres 2020 digital programming.
