SUMMARY:Ceres 2020: Investors Aligning with the Paris Agreement – Setting Investment Portfolios on a Path Toward Zero Emissions
DESCRIPTION:To avoid the worst impacts of climate change and reach the Paris Agreement’s goals\, global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions need to drop in half by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050. Over the past year\, a growing number of institutional investors have committed to aligning their investment portfolios with this net-zero GHG emissions trajectory\, including by forming and/or joining initiatives such as the Net Zero Asset Owner Alliance. \nIn this session\, participants will: \n\nExplore opportunities for investors around the world to join forces with the growing numbers of businesses\, governments\, and other actors committed to fulfilling the goals of the Paris Agreement\nExamine commitments by investors in the UN-convened Net Zero Asset Owner Alliance to transition their investment portfolios to net-zero GHG emissions by 2050\nIdentify steps investors are taking to implement their net-zero commitments\, including developing climate action plans and establishing intermediate targets every five years
