This is the 11th edition of the KPMG Survey of Sustainability Reporting since the first edition was published in 1993. This year, KPMG professionals reviewed sustainability reporting from 5,200 companies in 52 countries and jurisdictions, making this the most extensive survey in the series to date.

The survey provides a detailed look at global trends in sustainability reporting and offers insights for business leaders, company boards and sustainability professionals. Its aim is to support those who have a responsibility for assessing and preparing their own organization’s sustainability reporting.

The survey also serves as a guide to investors, asset managers and ratings agencies who now factor sustainability or Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) information into their assessment of corporate performance and risk.

It is based on several months of research by sustainability professionals at KPMG firms who analyzed thousands of corporate reports and websites.

Assesses the quality and usefulness of narrative and financial reporting on climate-related risks and opportunities in the UK, and provides various learnings, including useful examples of good practice and common areas of unhelpful or erroneous reporting.

In order to best protect their shareholders, beneficiaries and other stakeholders from the systemic risks of climate change, leading companies and investors are increasingly setting and pursuing ‘Paris-alignment’ or ‘net-zero’ objectives and strategies. Currently, a wide variety of methodologies are used to set and assess such strategies. This flexibility is useful in helping to drive ambition. Unfortunately, it also creates a significant risk that ‘greenwash’ will undermine real action. Over time, improvements and standardisation of methodologies will help to address this problem. In the interim, lack of a perfect approach should not be an excuse for delay.

To ensure that bold ambition is translated into real action, ClientEarth believe that a principles-based approach, supported by clear, non-negotiable ‘Red lines’ can help strike the required balance between flexibility and credibility. Based on a review of existing methodologies, in this Position Paper, ClientEarth proposes three overarching ‘Paris-alignment principles’ and 10(+1) corresponding ‘Red lines’, that should underpin all ‘Paris-alignment’ or ‘net-zero’ claims, initiatives and legislative interventions.

Joint guidance for users, focusing on disclosures that follow the TCFD recommendations and primarily aimed at the users of disclosures.

This guide was produced by a joint working party set up by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) and Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA). It draws on the insights of both financial and sustainability risk practitioners.

Written to support all users of climate-related financial disclosures, it can help a wide range of stakeholders, from risk management specialists and sustainability practitioners, from investors, lenders and insurers, through to interested members of the public.

The Climate Guidance is designed to complement the CDSB Framework and other frameworks, codes and recommendations that are aligned with some or all of the requirements of the CDSB Framework. This guidance offers companies a means of developing their reporting practices and ensuring that investors are receiving the material climate-related information needed for efficient and effective capital allocation to drive the transition to a just, low-carbon economy.

Climate change is one of the most significant structural force shaping the global economy. Its impact will be substantial and diverse, affecting all economic agents and sectors across the globe. This report compiled by the NGFS group of experts on monetary policy and climate change investigates the possible effects of climate change on the conduct of monetary policy. Based on a comprehensive review of existing literature, studies and expert analyses, it provides some early answers to the following questions:

(I) How does climate change affect key macroeconomic variables?
(II) What are the effects on the monetary transmission channels and central banks’ assessment of their policy space?
(III) Do central banks’ prevalent analytical toolkits adequately reflect climate change?
(IV) How might climate-related risks affect different monetary policy regimes?

This Ceres report outlines how and why U.S. financial regulators, who are responsible for protecting the stability and competitiveness of the U.S. economy, need to recognize and act on climate change as a systemic risk. It provides more than 50 recommendations for key financial regulators to adopt, including the Federal Reserve Bank (the Fed), the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CTFC), state and federal insurance regulators, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), and the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC).

This report provides asset owners and asset managers with practical steps to start identifying, assessing, monitoring and managing physical climate risk. It has been produced in response to growing awareness of the significant financial risks posed by physical climate change, and the challenge that understanding, assessing and managing those risks poses for financial institutions and investors.

This guidance provides a comprehensive entrance point for investors who want to make a start on assessing, managing and reporting on physical climate risks in their portfolios. It targets both asset owners and asset managers, and its aims are twofold:
1. To help investors understand physical climate risks and how they are measured.
2. To provide investors with practical guidance on how they can begin to analyse, assess and manage the risks and opportunities presented by physical climate hazards (i.e. acute and chronic).

This report summarises the main results of a stocktake conducted by the Basel Committee of its members’ initiatives on climate-related financial risks.

The survey suggests that the majority of Basel Committee members consider it appropriate to address climate-related financial risks within their existing regulatory and supervisory frameworks. An overwhelmingly large share of members have conducted research related to the measurement of climate-related financial risks, while a number of members identified operational challenges in assessing climate-related financial risks such as data availability, methodological challenges, and difficulties in mapping of transmission channels. A majority of the members have raised risk awareness with banks through different channels, and many banks are disclosing information related to climate-related financial risks to some extent. Approximately two-fifths of members have issued, or are in process of issuing, more principles-based guidance regarding climate-related financial risks. However, the majority of members have not factored, or have not yet considered factoring, the mitigation of such risks into the prudential capital framework.
