This report provides industry perspectives from a climate risk awareness survey conducted in partnership with the International Association of Credit Portfolio Managers (IACPM), across 45 global financial institutions. The report presents how institutions can integrate climate considerations and opportunities into their financial risk management frameworks and provide guidance on implementing the TCFD recommendations.

The intention of this position paper is to provide insurance sector risk professionals, and wider stakeholders, with a clear understanding of climate change implications for the insurance industry, both from an underwriting and investment perspective, and to equip them to challenge their businesses and clients in their responses to climate change. The paper aims to navigate the main issues, and provide a clear and up-to-date view of the climate change challenge, centred around the potential impacts on the insurance sector.

The time to act is upon us. The climate is changing and ‘the heat is on’.

This guide outlines the expectations that investors have of listed companies on their climate disclosure and is designed to provide a practical tool for investors as they work in partnership with their investee companies in Asia. To understand the current state of play, the Asia Investor Group on Climate Change (AIGCC) commissioned analysis by EY and FTSE Russell to look at climate reporting from different perspectives. EY undertook detailed analysis in four major Asian markets across high risk sectors to provide the first benchmark of corporate climate disclosure in Asia against the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

Climate change is a business issue. This publication outlines 20 questions for boards of directors to ask in overseeing organizational risk management, business strategy and performance in the context of climate change.

CPD’s 2017 discussion paper “Climate Horizons” showed how scenario analysis could help Australian companies, investors and regulators manage climate-related risks and opportunities. Along with a Working Group of 16 international banks convened by the UN Environmental Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), we developed a methodology for assessing risks and opportunities associated with the transition to a low-carbon economy (the “transition-related” impacts associated with climate change). The methodology addresses the Strategy element of the TCFD recommendations around the use of scenario analysis for forward-looking assessments of transition-related impacts.

The key aim of the methodology is to help banks assess the transition-related exposures in their corporate loan portfolios where they may have concerns about the potential policy and technology-related impacts of a low-carbon transition, as well as an appetite to explore and capture associated opportunities.

This paper informs the ongoing debate about how public- and private-sector banks should assess and report on their contribution to the transition toward a low-carbon economy. The research assesses the metrics that can be used to assess a bank’s contribution to the climate solution or problem. The report categorizes the existing metrics into greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, green or brown, and sector specific metrics; compare these metrics; and make recommendations for choosing metrics by asset class.

How financial institutions can better disclose climate-related physical risks in line with the recommendations of the TCFD.

Physical impacts from climate change such as heat waves, storms, droughts, or sea level rises are already being felt across the globe and will continue to intensify. Financial institutions are exposed to physical climate risks through various transmission channels, which can affect their financial stability.

However, financial institutions have tended to focus their climate-related financial risk disclosures on transition risks such as policy, legal, technology, and market changes, with less granular assessment of the potentially significant and severe direct impacts of climate change. This report assesses the current state of physical climate-related risk disclosures and provides high-level guidance for financial institutions reporting on physical risks in line with the recommendations of the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

Based on a review of best practices, regulations, standards, data availability, and technical considerations, this resource provides guidance on the disclosure of physical climate risks in line with the TCFD recommendations. It was developed by UNEP FI and the World Resources Institute (WRI) in response to questions raised by 10 institutions convened by UNEP FI at the Climate Adaptation Summit 2021 who committed to publishing climate-related physical risk disclosures in line with the TCFD.
