This Handbook is aimed at all listed companies, but especially those who are thinking of beginning ESG disclosure in the near future. The Handbook is designed to be a helpful reference material for companies wanting to improve their mid- to long-term corporate value by understanding ESG and the spread of ESG investment, progressing their ESG activities in a way fitting to the company, and enacting dialogue with investors and other stakeholders.

The Handbook introduces useful existing ESG disclosure standards and frameworks (SSE Model Guidance, TCFD, SASB, the Japanese government’s Guidance for Collaborative Value Creation, etc.) and examples of real-life disclosure based on these.

En-ROADS is a transparent, freely-available policy simulation model that provides policymakers, educators, businesses, the media, and the public with the ability to explore, for themselves, the likely consequences of energy, economic growth, land use, and other policies and uncertainties, with the goal of improving their understanding. The simulation, developed by Climate Interactive, Ventana Systems, and MIT Sloan, runs on an ordinary laptop in a fraction of a second, is available online, offers an intuitive interface, has been carefully grounded in the best available science, and has been calibrated against a wide range of existing integrated assessment, climate and energy models.

The Directive 2014/95/EU on the Disclosure of Non-Financial and Diversity Information the (NFR Directive) requires certain large companies to disclose information on their business models, policies, risks and outcomes as regards to environmental matters, social and employee aspects, respect for human rights, anti-corruption and bribery issues, and diversity in their board of directors. This Handbook follows on from CDSB and CDP’s First Steps review of corporate climate and environmental disclosure and is designed to demonstrate how companies have responded to the NFR Directive. Scenario analysis is an essential yet challenging component of TCFD disclosure and of understanding and preparing for the impacts of climate change on assets, markets and economies.
